Hawkesbury update

Well well, it's been like err 9 months? since I've moved to the hawkesbury region. Oh by the way, did you know that the hawkesbury region is one of the fattest regions in NSW (or maybe it's the fattest.. hmm, can't remember) ? It's pretty true! And they blame the government for not providing good public transport , and therefore they drive around a lot. WHAT?!? yeah, say that again.. WHAT?!? hahaha. Well, I guess walking is a form of exercise, but walking short distances to public transport depots/stations would not stop you from being obese!
sheesh.. that is such a lame excuse ain't it?

Ok, let's not get distracted.. :) Well, I'm glad that winter has gone and spring is here! Although we only had a few occassional hot days though. Winter in the hawkesbury is definitely colder compared to Sydney. Below's a pic which I took while I was driving to work on a foggy, cold winter morning.
And oh, there was the Hawkesbury Show which is something like the Sydney Royal Easter show but on a smaller scale a few months back as well. They had some pretty interesting stuff, especially in the food and produce section. Me being a big fan of mushrooms took a pic of the First prize in the biggest mushroom competition. :
A mushroom that weighs 734 grams!! and next, a pumpkin on steroids!! I have no idea how heavy that thing is, but I have never seen such a huge pumpkin before.So, there you go then, a mini update of my life in the hawkesbury. Sorry again for the limited number of posts this year, trying to find time to blog in this new season of life ya know? And on my off days and free time, I just wanna do something else and relax, instead of blogging.. :)

Ah, I'll be making a trip down to Jervis Bay in bout 2 weeks!! Can't waittt!! Will post pics of the trip then.

Ho hum! I am now a resident of Australia!
It took approximately 8 months for this to be granted which is pretty long I'd say.. Thank God that veterinarians don't really care if you have secured your PR status before they hire you. In fact, why do certain employers care so much? I think the chances of you getting a PR is 99% if you are already on a bridging visa isn't it? Hmm, maybe I don't know as much to be talking about this stuff.. So yeah, I have just received an email from the immigration department saying that I have been granted the visa that I applied for.

It didn't make much difference to me.. because I'm already working and all , but I guess the positive points are that I can now leave the country without paying some 60-80 bucks to get another visa that allows me to do that, and that I can now get my medical insurance settled which is quite ridiculous in the first place.. But err, let's not go there shall we?

Gee, it's been 3 months since my last update. All is well over here in Richmond, NSW. The job that I am in now is fantastic, with a nice and supportive boss and his wife. Just did my first pregnancy ultrasound on a beagle today.. and I do hope that my guess of how late into pregnancy she is is right! I do have quiet days at work at times , but then I have my own computer where I can surf the net and all. Well,in fact that's why I'm blogging right now... I have nothing on. So, just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you guys about the PR thingy then.

Me staying in Australia for a significant period of time? Nah, not really.. well, depends on your definition of "significant".. For now, current plans are to stay for a year or two, and then move on to Singapore or Malaysia. But who knows, there may be a change of plan along the way.. But definitely a year here to gain the precious experience I need as well as to make things nice and fair for my boss. It's not nice when you've trained and supported someone up and they leave you once they're competent isn't it? Well, it's not so nice to me.. :)

Anyways, I'll try to blog from home so that I can put up some pics or something eh? But thats it for now then I guess... now to wait for Benny the King Charles Cavalier to come in to have his wound checked..

Richmond

I moved to richmond a month and a half ago. Well richmond's quite a distance away from the city, it's about an hours drive (60km) from where I used to live. It's not too ulu anyway.. although it's classified as a semi-rural area and is on the outskirts of Sydney metro.
Main reason I moved here, was of course my job! The big man upstairs has blessed me with an excellent job, with a really nice boss. So now I work full time from 8.30am-7pm on weekdays with Tuesday being my day off, and on alternate saturdays for half a day. So yeah, it's quite a busy lifestyle I would say..
Wake up - work- cook-eat- 1-2 hours of chilling, and then sleep : Typical routine in a working day.
So it's quite nice to have tuesdays off.. the dreadful monday blues doesn't hit me that hard!

Anyways, some piccies of my modern apartment that I'm renting in richmond.. just to compare with those of St Mikes down below.. :)

The Great St Michaels

Stole the title from Howie's personal message on msn. Howie's a fellow St Michael resident/boy as well, and I think he's gonna be the last man standing in the college.

Well, for all of you who don't know about St Michael's College, allow me to enlighten you.
St Michael's is easily the cheapest college in Australia (accommodation in summer as well). Rent was only a mere AUD$150 a week, and this includes dinner, breakfast (cereal and milk), electricity, gas and water! And you have your own room, with some old furniture included.. You think that's cheap? Well, hear me out further.. in summer, rent is only AUD$50 a week! That's even cheaper than staying in some shared bunk room in a backpackers motel!! Only reason why it's so cheap is that the cook does not come during summer, therefore no dinner. But still.. I have saved so so much, thanks to St Michaels!

Well, if you are fussy about your living conditions, then St Mike's is not the place for you. But it isn't all that bad.. just depends on how fussy you are I guess. I have friends who cringe at the sight of the hallways and toilets, and I have friends who ask me if there's any empty rooms at the moment! Some say its dark and gloomy.. our excuse? Save electricity! Who needs brightly lit hallways ? Hahaha

The boss of St Mike's is Father Kevin Muldoon. Man, I could write a whole entry about him, but lets just keep it short yeah. He's really strong for his age (he's 80+!), really nice (till people take advantage of him), funny, friendly,cheeky and cute. You'll know its him when you hear his infamous "Lum Lum". He really loves asians, therefore he made St Mike's into an informal "asian college". Heres a recent pic of Father and myself in front of the college:

Ok now to the emo stuff.. I have been staying there for nearly all my time in Sydney, Australia. Since I first came to ozzie when I was a freshie,I stayed there till my graduation ceremony, with the exception of the one semester when I was in Camden. So yeah, my sydney experience is well influenced by St Mikes, and I have stayed there for almost 5 years! Recently, I have just moved out to Richmond for work which I will blog in my next entry.

Not so long ago, an informal eviction notice was given to the Father and the residents of St Mikes. They're gonna tear down St Mikes, and build a much newer college over it. Sad news right... although there have been talks about tearing St Mikes down before, but we didn't expect it to be so soon. And worst of all, everyone was given only a months notice to move out, which I think is ridiculous for a college with 40+ residents. However, it was an informal date anyway.. its been past the date they mentioned, and they still haven't done anything to move the remaining people out yet. I haven't seen Father so sad and troubled before. But I can so imagine man.. he's been staying there for 37 years! Oh well.. there's a time for everything isn't it?
Ok enough of me continuing on about St Mikes. Here are some piccies for ya!

Also because it's quite clean at the area where I only stand to shower (not the other areas!!) Well, you can imagine how the other bathrooms are like if I said that this is my favourite.. haha.. Man, these pics make the bathroom looks like its from a horror movie or something..

Well, thats bout it! Oh yeah, forgot to take pics of the rooftop which is quite nice for views of the city. Maybe I'll snap some pics the next time I head down to St Mikes. And oh, I didn't include pics of the rooms, cos it's a bit hard to appreciate them in pictures, cos you can't take a pic of the whole room. But, they're definitely in good condition! Its up to you to make them cosy or nice. :)

Terribly sorry for promising for a update in my previous post..

I know it has been ages (blog record) since my last post.
Truth is, I have slowly ventured into a new season in my life in which I did not bring my blogging "hobby" into. The new season thingy : from a single university student who does a lot of bludging to a not single anymore vet intern to a graduate who's looking for a job and applying for permanent residency. Hope that explains everything well.
I was even thinking of stopping this blog too.. but oh well, I think I'll leave it here just in case. :)

Oh yeah, graduation.. For those who didn't know, I just graduated from my vet. science degree recently, and I am now Dr Kung. ahem.. :) I'm very thankful to the big man upstairs for answering my prayers (though I have to admit I didn't pray desperately enough, but I'm sure others did e.g. my mum) regarding my honours.
All in all, it was a great day indeed.. perfect weather, getting to see my family (esp my brother whom I haven't seen for eons), and celebrating with friends. Special thanks to all my friends who were there!
Here's a piccie of me and my very happy mum.Well, I'm currently in Melbourne at the moment, spending time with the family (sister's here) and will be back in Sydney on New Year's Day where I have a few interviews lined up. I do hope I'll be able to get a job close to the city ! Oh yeah, and I'll be flying back to penang for a short break before I start working in sydney. Hopefully I'll be able to negotiate (if I get a job before I leave) to start my job later in February or something.

Anyways, yeah.. I know it's been ages that I've updated this blog of mine. Well, I'll promise to try and put up bigger updates when I'm done with my rotations. Lots of admin stuff to do after as well.. applying for jobs, settling PR stuff, bla bla bla.. and lots of fun stuff I wanna do as well! Like getting a diving licence, learning to surf, travelling around aussie a bit!

Fish do cough

Yes Anne.. fish do cough.. I did a search on it especially for you.. so bangga a bit ok? I did a literature search on it! Not just google.. :) Well, it's pretty interesting aye? Fish don't cough like we humans do.. Their version of cough is different. They cough to dislodge stuff stuck in their gills. So I guess, coughing for them is a sudden outburst of contraction of their gills!

Anyways, I am suppose to be studying about how to examine cranial nerves in animals.. Well to aid my learning, I shall explain some stuff here.. What are cranial nerves? They are 12 pairs of nerves that originate from our brain that innervate the stuff in our head. I'm gonna list them out and roughly tell you what they do!

II. Optic n.
III. Oculomotor n.
IV. Trochlear n.
V. Trigeminal n.
VI. Abducent n.
VII. Facial n.
VIII. Vestibulocochlear n.
IX. Glossopharyngeal n.
X. Vagus n.

There you go.. now you know more about cranial nerves.. :) I originally wrote down what they do as well, but decided to change my mind.. don't think you guys will read it anyway, unless you know about them, and wanna check whether I know my stuff.. :)

Watched it on tuesday... "How was it?" my friends would ask.. My answer would be : I would love to watch it again a few times.. Longer answer? : Crazy supercool effects.. action packed, I don't think the main actress fitted well in the whole show probably acting and cinematography? and maybe they should have stuck more to the original cartoon. But hey, all in all.. this is a must watch for all of you who loved the cartoon series when you were a kid!

Ah, just found out that my previous post was one month ago!
My my, the weekends really fly by oh so quickly.. Well , I really treasured this weekend, because I had to work last weekend.. and by the end of last week, it really gets to you when you've worked 12 days in a row.. And they are full days mind you.. no half days at all, even on weekends!
Few more mins till the end of this current weekend!

I'm definitely feeling refreshed from this weekend! Rushed straight from work on Friday to Hillsong Conference @ olympic park because I don't wanna not attend a single thing at all just because I get off work late during the week. The closing night rally was amazing! And watching the recap video of the week, it's like the opposite of what's it suppose to be.. showing me all the things that I've missed out! Or I could look at it in a positive way, that it's a video to show me a small glimpse of how conference was instead of not knowing anything about it hey?

Church today was off the roof !! We had Jentezen Franklin and Joseph Prince for the 5 and 7 pm service. Ended the conference with a bang I'd say!
Well oh well, I so wanted to blog yesterday cos it was a special date, the 07 07 07 thingy.. which a friend of mine calls it the jackpot day.. it was Wenqi's birthday as well!
She's happily travelling all over europe at the moment, and will be back in Sydney bout 11 days and 6 hours from now! Am so so looking forward to that!

Okay, gotta go sleep soon... so I can be refreshed and not have Monday blues tomorrow!

Winter update

Time for an update, don't you think?

I am at the moment trying to waste time away on the internet. I know I know, I'm suppose to be studying and revising vetty stuff when I'm free.. but err.. I'm just lazy.. haha and the internet provides me more entertainment. It's a quiet day at the clinic (am at Sydney Uni vet clinic rotations for 3 months), and I'm hidden away in one of the consult rooms updating my blog. 30 minutes till my case comes in! It's a bandage change on a fracture repair we did a week ago. Am trying not to blog too much about vetty stuff in here, although piccies every once a while wouldn't hurt eh? Wanna share the vetty world with you guys! okay, here's some pics of my favourite patient:

It's good to be based back in Sydney again.. gotta catch up with things that have progressed in my absence! Not to mention catching up with friends and getting back into church ministry! Working as a vet is tough, but I don't want to ever get into a routine.. you know what I mean? Like everyday it's just eat, sleep, and work. So gotta make an effort to do stuff even when I'm sleepy and tired! which reminds me.. I need to find out more about sleep apnoea..

Ah well, lets hope that I get an early mark today, since it's so quiet.. :) Long weekend ahead!! But I'm on ICU duty on sunday night.. argh.. let's hope that it's gonna be a quiet sunday night as well.. haha..

Am back in sunny Sydney!!
Man, it feels soooooooooo great to get the camden rotation out of the way.. and I passed everything!!

Spent the whole day cleaning and refurnishing my room in St Mike's. Man I feel tired.. still haven't recover from staying up late the night before the exams.

Can't bum around too much yet.. still have a case report due on midnight tomorrow. I better get to it soon!

6 Weird Things About Me.

1. I can put my two legs over (behind) my head without much effort (using my hands to pull them). Maybe cos im too hunched...argh! need to stand up straight!

2. I have this habit of "playing/caressing" the hems of my pillow. Big time addictive habit..

3. I think I have sleep apnoea.. I wake up subconsciously/consciously sometimes throughout the night and sometimes sleep in a funny position (froggy style).

4. This ties in with the sleep apnoea as well, I feel sleepy nearly every afternoon.. no matter how much sleep I get the night before. So afternoon studying is very hard for me..

5. If I have continuous net connection, I check my email very very frequently. Sometimes more than twice in an hour KLO! :)

6. I can't drink coffee on an empty stomach.. upsets and "flatulates" my tummy! :P

Weekend chill

Man, I'm getting slack in updating this blog.. Past 2 weeks has been crazy in the university equine rotation. Starting at bout 730 am till bout 6pm daily, with treatments at night on certain days..Just this morning I had to give 2 hourly checks and meds(10pm,12 am, 2am, 4am...) on a miniature horse foal that is hospitalised for colic.. and her fluids keep stuffing up, so most visits took about an hour to sort it out. Yep, I don't have to explain any further!

Oh well, the next two weeks should be much more relaxed now that I've got the equine rotation out of the way (well not entirely.. still have a test that I need to resit)

Ok ok, now for some exciting updates.. Firstly, I went on a "field trip" with my lecturer/senior vet together with 2 others to ultrasound 2 horses. One of them was Musket, Makybe Diva's little brother! I just found out that he was sold for a whopping $2.5 million aussie dollars ! (which is an Australian record according to wiki) Man, his vet must be having a pretty intense career.. But yea, it's not everyday that you get to swab alcohol on a $2.5 horse's chest.. thought that I'll share it with you guys..

Secondly, I managed to book return tickets to Melbourne for $10! That's even cheaper than taking a cab to the airport from Sydney.. I owe this to Jetstar's 3rd birthday sale.. well, the tickets were just $3 one way ($2 credit card surcharge). Also bought the one way tick to tassie from Melb for the same price, am now looking for cheap flights for the return back to melb. I'll be looking forward to this super low budget trip of mine!

Gonna chill a bit at the moment.. but still gotta study and prepare for the next subrotation on monday.. here we go!

1 week break

On hols for a week.. and its zipping by VERY fast!!
arghh.. the day seems to fly by without me doing much.. which is quite sad

There are lots on my to-do list for this week.. and one of them is holding everything back cos it's the highest on the priority. Thats to finish up my report/literature review for my previous internship at Gundagai. I have to finish this before I move on to the other stuff.. and it's taking me a while!! Yeah, and I'm suppose to be writing up the assignment right now!

Ok, I better start on it now..I want!!

Gundagai and piccie update!

It’s my 2nd week here in Gundagai! I do have net connection, but only when I’m at the office. No phone line in my motel room. Oh well, at least the connection at the office is pretty fast. And I do spend some time slacking in the office! Was even searching for online games to play and spend my time, haha.. Hmm I better use this time I have in the office to write up some of my assignments and to post up an update!

Am driving back to Sydney for the long Easter weekend! Well, driving down to Melbourne was an option as well, but I decided that Sydney would be better. Thanks ah pork for the comment on the previous post! Well, Gundagai’s not too bad.. very small rural town with nice views of the hills and such. The Murrumbidgee river (which is good for fishing) runs through the town. Well, I would love to take up fishing one day.. just gotta find the gear, initiative and maybe some kaki as well.

Okay okay.. Now some pics and info of the places I went to in Malaysia.
Went to the Sungai Sedim forest reserve which had the longest treetop walk in the world.. yeah world! It's nearly 1 km in length if I'm not mistaken. Some piccies :

Next, was the Bukit Hijau forest reserve! Went there specially just to sit under the amazing waterfall! Highly recommended !

Also took a trip up to Langkawi for a couple of days. Really regret that I didn’t take a pic of the beach at Tanjung Rhu, which I personally felt was the best beach in Langkawi! It's like one of the beaches that you see in the island holiday brochures. We saw some funny patterns on the beach at Pantai Kok:

So cool right?? These holes are made by tiny little crabs on the beach.. and the balls of sands must be the sand that they dug out.. Oh I just googled about these sand balls. A source mentioned that the crabs will take sand into their mouths, suck out the nutrients, and spit out the tiny balls you see here. Very cool indeed.. and these holes with their surrounding sand balls were scattered all over a major part of the beach.

Lastly, I took Wenqi for a fireflies cruise in Nibong Tebal. It took me a while to find Mr Heng’s contact number on the net. Hmm.. wonder if I will get into trouble if I post up his number here.. Just to be safe… I better not.. But if you need his contact, do drop me a message!
I heard that the fireflies activity here is not as good as the one in Kuala Selangor.. but it’s good enough for me! Plus it’s much nearer to Penang as well. Personally, I felt that it was an unforgettable experience. Catching the fireflies and watching them glow inside your palms definitely contributes to this!

Man I miss Penang.. missing the atmosphere, family, friends , tiuking sessions (gang-fights), food, cheap stuff..

Ah, just got back ere 2 days ago...
It's been a while.. sorry for the super late update !!
I think by now, all you guys who are still reading this are like coming in ere once a month or so. Well oh well..
My 2 main excuses are :
1. Lousy net connection
2. Different lifestyle

I had a great time back in Malaysia, with the internship, the holidays, and spending time with frens and loved ones.

2 days from now, Monday, I'm off to Gundagai for a month of rural placement. Gundagai's like 4 hrs southwest of Sydney, and I do hope it's not super ulu.. At least I pray that the accomodation that I'm staying at has like a phone line for me to go online or to call a particular singaporean, :)

Alrightey, will post bout the highlights of my hols in malaysia next! (if there's net connection at Gundagai....) Gotta try get back into gear with this blog thingy..

Heyya peeps..
just a short note to say that I'm still alive!
am back in good ol Penang for bout 2 1/2 months!

The past few days before coming back to Malaysia has been crazy.. with moving, and a whole heap of other stuff.

Spent New Year at a friend's place together with some old friends.. not at some happening place like Gurney, which Alan told me was filled with kids.. ;)

Yah, so I'm having a month of hols before I start my internship at Gill's at Gurney.. time to chill pill

Will try to get updates up.. but there is very little motivation with the dialup speed that I have.. right now, my speed is just at 26.4 kbps.. happening..

Euthanasia

I euthanised my first animal today..
Pipper was a 16 year old German Sheperd.. 16 years old for this breed is really old!

It was a sad moment.. the dog , Pipper, belonged to an elderly couple. They declined to be with her during the process, and the old man started crying.. haih, so sad.. he quickly wiped his tears away before he left the room.

oh well.. I'm sure I'll put down more animals in the future. I pray that I won't ever take this as a routine.

I thought at first that they were just joking till I found these pics on his facebook! The real world..

More like the real working world of my profession..

Started my very first day of internship on Monday.. which was hmm.. pretty hard to describe.
Fun, exciting, nervous, intimidating, tired..

It was pretty crazy on the first day itself.. my learning curve was like nearly 90 degrees, and I learnt so so so much.. and having a good memory of all that I've learnt for the past 4 years would be really really helpful as well!

We (See Yang and me) were asked to do a consultation on our very first day there! Thank goodness I had See Yang there with me, so it wasn't THAT bad.. yeah but still..
A consultation involves a simple introduction of yourself, obtaining history from the owner, and a physical examination.Our first patient for consultation was a Staffy (staffordshire bull terrier). His owner brought him in because of aggression problems... haha, thank GOD that he was really really friendly to the both of us. It went pretty well, for our very first consult! We get to do 90% of the consults that come in everyday.. So I'm pretty confident in doing a consult myself now! Did a few by myself today! You get to meet all types of funny and cute patients, as well as the different types of owners as well!

On Tuesday, I scrubbed in with the head of the clinic into a orthopaedic surgery to correct a german sheperd's hind leg. It was pretty exciting, as it was my first time watching a surgery in front of me eyes.. but it was tiring as well, as the surgery lasted for nearly 3 hours.. and I was just standing there, with my hands raised in front of me to maintain sterility. Well, I did help a tiny little bit, like flushing and sucking up blood.. lol

Next, to wednesday! We spend wednesdays at the spey clinic where we just spey and castrate animals all day long. I had my very first spey and castration! with some supervision of course.. The castration was on a german sheperd, and it was pretty easy and non invasive. The spey was on a dalmatian, and as a first timer, it wasn't easy to look for the uterus and the ovaries! But I guess it gets very easy after I get familiar with the abdominal organs.All went well, and it felt really good to see her recover back to her lively and bright self afterwards! I really do hope that there are no complications involved in her minor surgery!

But it's really tiring though, with the long hours and stuff.. I work from 8 to 5 pm, and till 6.30pm on tuesdays and thursdays. And I have to be on call every alternate day and weekend. When I'm on call, I have to return back to the clinic at 8pm for afterhours treatment, and yea.. if there are any emergencies (touch wood), I get called back to the clinic. And I also need to study at night after that, to make sure I know my stuff the next day, or to answer some quizzes that my supervisors give us.

Yeah, thats that.. It's not so bad now that I've got the hang of it! Yup.. Sorry if I sounded like I'm all over the place in this post.. there's just a lot of stuff to tell you guys about, and I'm feeling a bit tired as well.. and it's just 10.35 pm, gosh..

Went to my first auction today.. it was pretty cool! Things were going so so cheap as well! It's this car stereo specialist shop that decided to clear off a whole stack of their stock by auction.. and whoa, they have some pretty high end stuff going for real cheap!! Like 1/3 of the retail price!! Madness.. I dropped by to see if I could get myself a bargain.. but the stuff which I'm interested were in the later part of the auction, and I had to get to church then. Oh well.. I'll keep a good lookout for such auctions next time.. haha, although they rarely happen.

Oh, I wanna go to the Australian International Motor Show! Lets see if I can find the right time to go..

Now I need to study for my finals which are coming up.. my final finals as a vet student. I need to end this with a bang!

A painful lesson..

Birthdays are days which your friends around you use to show their appreciation and love towards you..
That's one lesson I painfully learnt a few days before my birthday..

Here's the story.. My housemates decided to have a birthday dinner celebration thingy a couple of days earlier, cos I won't be around then (encounterfest). And on that day, I played touch(which involves a whole lot of running) at noon, and I decided to mow the lawn.. which took me the whole afternoon. We have a huge lawn.. remember? So yea, by evening, I'm already half dead..And all throughout the dinner, I was pretty much half dead, which affected the way I carried myself throughout the dinner.

The worst part was that when it was time for the cake, I asked them whether it was alright for them to bring it home instead, cos we were all very full.. Yeah, I know.. who would do that?? me.. sheesh..but hey I wouldn't normally do that, it's cause I'm quite close with my housemates, so I thought I should be frank with them. Big time bad move aye.. Right after that, the girls were pretty angry with me, but the guy was completely unaffected! which I find quite funny.. :) Yea, to cut things short, it was all sorted out in the end after some serious talks and apologies from my side.. and after feeling like the worst housemate/friend in the universe..

Celebrating the birthday of someone close to you is a real joy indeed and you'll definitely put in some effort passionately.. but celebrating the birthday of someone you don't know that well could be an obligation. That's so very true for me.. what about you guys? well, what I did was that I forgot to view it from the other side for my case for the first point..

Ok, sad stuff aside.. I spent my birthday at Encounterfest! which was indescribable! nothing beats encountering God man.. The day itself was pretty hot though, it was a max of 38 degrees! Social justice was fun! check out K-Lo's blog for more info on that! haha, am getting lazier by the day.. And for the album recording, Kudzi moved me to the very front row on the floor/the mosh pit! I couldn't believe that I could just put my hands on the stage to rest! I think you're gonna see plenty of me in the Dvd recording of the night! So make sure you get one when it's released! :) The mosh pit was insane in the last few songs, and I was squashed to the stage most of the time then. Haha, but it's fun!
This year's (including next year) project is gonna be crazy.. United is launching this thing called The I Heart Revolution.. They're gonna put together a cd from songs that are recorded live from different parts of the world! But there's more to just that.. it's about starting a revolution..

The Road Trip

Argh, back to uni.. back to sticking my arm up the cow's arse.. back to getting cow shit splattered all over me..
At least this is my last day of cattle practicals.. next stop is sheep! which would be much better..

The road trip last week was hmm... nice? crazy?
I drove 2100+ kms, used 217 + litres of petrol, drove ~25-30 hours in 6 days.. Yeah, I'm quite proud of myself ... aren't you? We(the people in the front seats) saw at least 20 road kills on the way there, and roughly about the same number as well on the way back.. Man, I pity all those tourists who are like "Yay, we get to see wild kangaroos on the roads of Australia".. yeah.. it's more like bloody dead kangaroos lying everywhere.. I'm very thankful that I did not kill anything during my road trip.. well, I did kill lots and lots of insects..

Why like that? Cos when belle is going at high speed, she just rams down every single insect that flies in her way.. and their mini guts will explode and make them stick to her. Her whole front is just covered with bugs of all types man.. What's best is that I can see every bug that hits the windscreen.. got sound effect somemore when they meet their fate. It's quite irritating though, cos they are pretty hard to clean up.

Ok ok, now to not so gross stuff.. We (Wenqi,Tania, Dong Xie and me) left on wednesday morning to Melbourne and dropped by Canberra for lunch, the floriade, and also to pick up another road trip homie, Carmen. These are some of the pics we took at Canberra.

The whole place is filled with flowers, especially tulips! Don't wanna bombard this blog with too many pics.. so the pics up here are the ones I've chosen for you to see ok ? Ok, after Canberra, we headed down to Melbourne.. When we reached melbourne, it took me a while to adjust myself to the roads there. The roads in/near the city looked pretty messy because both cars and trams share the same roads. Driving with trams can be cool.. but can be frustrating when you are stuck behind them. They are super slow!This is a pic that I took while I was in a traffic jam. Note the remains of a bug on the windscreen.. it's not bird shit ok?
Melbourne's nice.. it's a combination of Sydney and Adelaide. Food's good, and the cafe lifestyle is nice. Shopping's good as well, but it would be better if they have sales going on.. I'm a cheapo, :p
The top left pic is some cages with canaries hanging from a ceiling of a building called GPO. Think it's a shopping center.. it's suppose to be some kind of creative decoration.. I think.. no idea what it represents.. weird decoration ideas people have.. Bottom right is a pic of me and my sis. It was her birthday on that day.. and yea, you don't have to tell me that we look alike.. we get that too much.. The other 2 pics are creations from Coco Black, a famous chocolate cafe there. They have pretty rich stuff there, and you really need to order carefully!

We also went down for a drive to the Great Ocean Road. It was amazing.. it's like one of the best roads to drive in the world! The views along the way are absolutely breathtaking, although the driver (me) did not get to enjoy it as much as my passengers, but still from the driver's point of view, it's just super nice as well! Can't describe it.. you have to drive on the road yourself!

And oh, we saw a wild echidna just beside one of the trails we were walking on.. check the movie out! It's not that clear/visible though.. but still! We were able to get close enough to catch it!

Phew, is this my longest post ever?! I think it is.. since I've packed so much into my mid semester break! Still, I'm too lazy to describe everything in detail ..
Alrightey, back to uni life now.. few more weeks left before the exams, then the rotations, then back home to Penang for a nice break!

Very very, dark..

Why very very dark? Because lotsa places in NSW had blackouts yesterday night. .which lasted till today.. That's because the winds were very very strong, and it uprooted some trees which then decided to crash onto the powerlines..

That happened to a tree just like 20 metres down the road in front of my house.. which made my house am mong mong..

I'm weird, cos I sometimes find blackouts quite fun.. very exciting.. yea.. cos its am mong mong..

There are already some bushfires going on.. In spring!!! Can't imagine how summer would be like..somemore I'm staying near a high-risk area..or issit IN the area? no idea.. SMH says "Meanwhile a bushfire expert has warned Australia is on the brink of a horror bushfire season."
sigh...

The holidays beckons..

Ahhhh... feeling quite free now! Sorry for the slow-mo update! Just finished my last assignment before my holidays.. It was a client handout sheet about ferrets.. Just thought I'll pop a picture of them up here before I clean up any traces of assignments in my laptop.Cute lil things aren't they?? I so wanna have one.. but can't really at the moment.. maybe next time hey?

Yup! Holidays are nearly here! Just 2 more days!! Really can't wait! Will be road-tripping down to Melbourne and stopping by Canberra for the Floriade on the way there. Should be fun aye? My very first road trip!! It's roughly about 9-10 hours drive, I think.. Haven't planned it out properly yet though..

Treating Nemo..

Yeah.. for those who always ask me questions whether I learn about fish in my course.. Yes I do.. In fact, I'm learning about them now.. Becoming a fish vet can be quite fun , and *ka-ching* *ka-ching* well paid ! Besides, I'm really really interested in marine mammals and stuff.. who knows, I'll be a marine vet someday..

Why *ka-ching*? Well, some fishes are worth a LOT of money you see.. be it ornamental or aquaculture.. I learnt that a tuna fish.. yes, one tuna fish .. I don't know what type.. but it's those that they export to Japan for sushi, is worth a few thousand dollars!! The breeder would definitely be worried if he sees four or five of those tunas starting to swim funny.. and he calls the vet in.. and voila, the vet asks for a large sum of money.. smaller than what the breeder is about to lose la.. duh..

Had a fish practical yesterday... I learnt how to anaesthetise fish, and recover them back to normal.. Really amazing to see them konk out enough for you to do some procedures on them.. and then after a few minutes seeing them swimming around happily again! The other part of the prac involves dissecting barramundis.. Was so tempted to take some fillets back home to cook! such a waste.. but the barramundis weren't so fresh after all.. Do you know that a barramundi becomes a male after a certain age, and then swaps over to become a female at a later age? Now you know.. ho ho..

Ok ,I really need to study.. am having a 45% mid sem about ruminants on monday..

Aku tidak sangka aku begitu patriotik.. tapi aku memang patriotik sekarang.. 5 tahun dahulu, bila aku seorang pelajar di INTI college, Pulau Pinang, semangat patriotiku memang sangat minimum.. Tapi sekarang.. fuu yoh.. pencampaian yang agak bagus.. mungkin kerana aku sedang belajar di Australia sekarang.. hmm .. bukan mungkin, tapi memang kerana aku di sini!

Memang susah bagi aku untuk menjelaskan kepada saudara dan saudari.. mungkin kerana bahasa melayuku sudah karat.. karat kau kau.. tapi, aku akan cuba dengan sedaya upaya! minta maaf jika aku tidak jelas dalam penjelasanku.. Ya.. mataku terbuka kepada cara hidup orang Australia yang berbeza kepada cara hidup orang Malaysia.. Sini tiada mamak yang buka hingga awal-awal pagi.. sini barangnya agak mahal berbanding dengan barang di Malaysia.. makanan di sini juga tidak boleh berbanding dengan makanan di Malaysia.. Ya.. memang.. memang.. Mungkin juga kerana sekarang aku berada di negara asing.. kena "represent" sikit!

Kenapa aku tidak begitu patriotik sebelum aku meninggal Malaysia untuk belajar di sini? Aku pun tak pasti.. Tapi aku pasti semangat patriotik rakyat Malaysia agak rendah..Kebanyakan rakyat Australia memang semangat patriotik gila babi.. mungkin kerana rakyat mereka banyak terlibat dalam acara dunia.. seperti dalam Rugbi, Bola sepak, sukan komanwel, dan olympic juga! Wah, saya lihat dan dengar mereka menyanyi lagu kebangsaan mereka.. memang semangat gila babi !! Malaysia agak selekeh dalam acara sukan.. hmm badminton sahaja? Macam mana nak meningkatkan semangat patriotik rakyat Malaysia? hmm.. aku pun tak tau.. pada pendapat saya, "national service" yang baru diperkenalkan ini agak sukar untuk tujuan ini juga.. Macam nak menjolok semangat patriotik ini dalam mulut pelajar yang tidak bernasib baik kerana mereka dipilih secara rawak untuk menyertai program ini..

Dalam masa ku di Sydney, aku dapat mengenal beberapa kawan yang memanggil diri mereka rakyat Malaysia.. tetapi, apabila aku challen (mencabar la.. lu ingat aku tak tau perkataan ini?) mereka untuk menyanyi lagu kebangsaan kita, mereka hanya boleh menyanyi satu baris atau stanza.. haih.. macam ini panggil "malaysian"? haha.. maaf lah kepada rakanku yang membaca ini.. tapi memang benar lah.. betul tak? Apa yang lawak sangat juga ialah rakyat Singapura memang boleh menyanyi lagu kebangsaan mereka.. tetapi mereka tidak faham maksudnya langsung!! Ini kerana lagu kebangsaan mereka ditulis dalam bahasa melayu.. dan ya.. bahasa melayu mereka , memang buruk.. mereka tak tau langsung lah..

Ya, ya.. bahasa melayu aku memang buruk juga.. memang ada banyak kesalahan dalam karangan di atas.. ho ho..

Both Josh and Pris played a HUGE role in my life since I got here in Sydney.. They're both like a brother ( I call Josh Abang Ratilal..) and a sister to me. I'm saying without a doubt that I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for their friendship, guidance, example, leadership, encouragement, and a whole heap of other stuff.. They make me feel happy by laughing at my corny jokes as well! It's not hard to make me happy..

I'm really excited for their engagement, and their wedding , which is a bout a year away.. They are one of the sweetest and cutest couple that I've met.. awww.. really!

Okay..I think it's time for me to start studying.. yeah.. start..

I wonder why asians love to flash the V sign when taking pictures.. Especially the japs.. No offence if you are a jap, or if you do it all the time.. but maybe you could tell me why you guys love it so much?

Well , the manga character up there isn't projecting the image of what I'm talking about.. but hey, you guys know what I mean yea? I was so tempted to put up so pics of people doing the V pose (with their faces pixelated of course..) but somehow decided not to go there..

But anyway, a few of these poses are alright.. with the right facial expression that is.. I somehow can't stand people with a stoned expression, or with sucked in lips (or partially) doing the V thing.. ugh.. Haha, and oh, let's not forget the double V with the "ain't I pretty/cute" look ! That's a real classic.. man oh man.. and guys who do this? let's not go there shall we? bulu roma berdiri lah..

There's a winery just down the road from my pink house.. in fact, I think it's about a 5 min stroll to get there! They are owned by the Cogno Brothers, and is called Cobbitty Wines.

We (my housemates and I) paid the winery a visit today, and found out that they have pretty cheap wine! Most of the stuff we saw ranged from as low as 3 dollars to 30 maybe? Too bad most of the wine we tasted were not that good.. probably thats why its so cheap.. but hey, I think they definitely have a few good to so-so ones.. so we'll probably visit them again soon! They have wine based liqueurs as well, which I would love to try next time..We bought a bottle or two each of the stuff we liked anyway.

The Simple Life..

This is my new pink house.. nice hor? You see the verandah? At first I was so happy.. I thought can sit there and minum kopi and enjoy the view of the alpacas in the paddock across the road.
But, the stupid pink fence thingy ( I have no idea how you call that thing) was blocking the view when I tried to simulate my future chilling sessions.. that stupid thing is pretty high.. clever designing man..

Okay, okay.. I shall now give you a tour of my pink house..First, this is the pic of the view that I was talking about just now..the alpaca paddock in front of my house :It's pretty hard to see the alpacas from this pic, so I tried zooming in on them. If you don't know what alpacas are, just google search man.. They are funky creatures with funky hairstyles.. seriously..Well, anyway yea.. I could always set up something in front of the verandah to chill in the warmer days ahead. It's pretty cold now.. hopefully winter ends real soon..Okay, now to the backyard of my pink house..
Got swing somemore.. look at the huge garden my pink house has.. The plants with the yellow flower marks the end border of the garden. It belongs to one of the uni's research facilities. On this picture's left is another part of the garden, which is much bigger than the one represented here..And on the right, is Belle's house.. the garage :

Sorry, I'm a bit of a jakun.. but good old penang does not have orange trees.. justified hey? But the oranges are super sour la.. very disappointing.. There was this farm that I went to for an attachment which had mandarin trees, with sweet mandarins ok? So syok, anytime wanna eat, just go pluck.. There's also an area to chop and store firewood just behind the garage.. Man.. just like the movies..

St Mike's

St Michael's College.. the gloomy grey building on City Road.. yeah, the place I've been staying for all my time here in Sydney.. 4 years!

Why did I stay there and not move elsewhere? Because I was happy there ? duh.. Okay okay.. I'll be specific..

1. Cheap rent. Rent is 150 AUD per week, including meals (except for lunch) and bills.. which is freaking cheap for Sydney standards. I don't have to pay rent when I'm back home in summer, and even if I don't fly home for summer, the rent is just 50 AUD a week without food!! That's even cheaper than backpackers hey? I've saved plenty these 4 years man..

2. Friends. Yeap.. I would say it's all thanks to Dota.. haha.. but not entirely la.. we play mahjong, football and other stuff as well.. But there's not many of the gang left in the college now.. which is a bit sad for those who are still there.. oh well..

3. Very good location

4. A enclosed area to park for free

5. It doesn't have dodgy traditions or rules like the other colleges do..

These positive points far outweigh all the other negative factors (some of which are listed below)

1. Old and gloomy looking. Dark corridors (save money!)

2. No telephone lines and internet (solved with wireless, :p)

3. Dodgy food at times.. ("MSG Nancy", eating the same food for 4 years.. go figure)

I'll still be back for the weekends, unless I can find a better place to bunk in on weekends.. any offers? Yea, so it's not that sad..

Meet MSG Nancy!

The not-so-complete group of friends (for the Dota gang, exclude the chick in the middle, the battle cry dude on yer right, and the half naked dude behind him). It's not so complete because Louis, our chinaman is not in the picture. Do note that I was about to open my thumb and middle finger out, and not make the peace sign.. I am NOT one of those "peace-ing" people. You'll understand later.This is Louis the chinaman, who's very very excited about Dota. I guess life wouldn't be the same in St Mike's without him, thats why I'm putting his pic up and mentioning a few things bout him, prob cos he was left out in the previous picture... He's not the typical chinaman as you can see, and we came up with this theory that he has Manchu or Mongol blood in him..

Been spending the last few days moving, and settling down at my new home in Camden..

Watson's Bay!

Hey hey!
Went to Watson's Bay today with some friends from youth choir. It wasn't exactly the best day with the occasional drizzles/showers. But we still manage to have a fun time!

I could still remember the first and only time I came here with Mei Yun like 3 years ago.. We didn't really explore the place properly as we just hung around the jetty area for a short while (we took a ferry there).

But whoa, there was so much more to the place than just the nice jetty area! There's this area called the Gap Park or something just like a few minutes walk away from the jetty area. It's like a coastal walk thingy with some very nice lookout points..

The picture above is the beautiful city that I live in from far.. Notice the harbour bridge on the right as well.. And the dark clouds looming above.. These were the peeps that came with me in my car :Man, Watson's Bay is really really nice.. and it's so near the city as well! About 20 - 30-ish minutes drive I would say? And parking is free too!! I'll definitely come up here some time when it's warmer to spend quiet times alone with my Dad, or bring that special someone along as well next time! haha.. Yea, I think you could just spend the whole day here just admiring the view man.. if the weather permits that is.. It's extremely windy up there, and windy conditions in winter is umm yea, self explanatory..

Just got back from Tika's "surprise" birthday party as well.. Tika, if you ever read this, just wanna wish you a happy birthday again, and thanks for the Prison Break dvds!

I'm getting sleepy.. I think I should post my entries during the day or something so that I can take my time instead of ending them in such a sudden way..5 more days of holidays!! arghh..

Slamming Tim Tams..

Today I'll teach you guys how to enjoy a Tim Tam Slam. If you already know about it, good on ya.. If you don't, you definitely should try it!
Tim Tam's are australian chocolate covered biscuits in case you don't know what they are..
Now I shall show you the techniques..

All you need is some Tim Tams, and a cup of hot chocolate (or any other drink.. preferably hot though like coffee? milk? liquer? )

First, grab a piece of Tim Tam, and bite off the two ends of the Tim Tam like this :

Then use the current Tim Tam as a straw to suck the hot chocolate through it like this : The heat will melt the Tim Tam real fast, and you need to have good timing in eating the melting Tim Tam in yer mouth. Once you pop it in, it melts completely.. and man... it tastes good! A must try for all Tim Tam/chocolate lovers!

One more week of holidays left!
Can't remember what I did the previous week.. I guess mostly hanging out with friends and such.. Had like a mini gathering of '01 PFSians in Sydney with Shao, Adrian, Lin Kooi and Jee Jian.. the week went by too fast I'd say.. I'll try and savour this last week of hols as much as I can before it zips by..

Gotta start packing my room to move my stuff over to my new place in Camden. For those who don't know, I'll be having my 2nd sem at a farm campus at Camden, (can be considered rural area) about an hours drive away from Sydney.. which ain't bad at all! I could still drive back to Syd on the weekends and such..
Will blog more about that when the time comes!

I am not happy.. I do not like the Italian football team..

Zizou is one of my favourite footballers of all time..

For those of you who don't know, Zizou headbutted Italian defender Marco Materazzi viciously in the chest in the 19th minute of extra-time.
"Something must have been said to Zidane. He is actually a reserved and inoffensive person," said Franz Beckenbauer(Chief World Cup Organiser). Must have been said/provoked? Well I say he was definitely provoked! Materazzi must have insulted him pretty pretty badly to provoke Zidane like that.. He's no Cantona.. Maybe a racial slur or an insult to Zizou's religion? Who knows..And adding to the heat of the moment with was pretty intense at the moment, Zizou blew his top..

What the?? Why didn't they use video replay for all the other fouls and actings throughout the previous matches?

If they have done a video replay, they should have done an audio replay as well.. so we all know what instigated Zizou to do what he did. It's hard to believe that he just reacted to nothing.

Sigh, I could go on and on.. but I do agree that Zizou is in the wrong for his actions. Well, to err is human. He made a mistake, but it does not make him any less amazing as a footballer. Zizou, you will always be remembered for the hero that you are man, not for letting your reflexes take over on a dirty Italian player!

And I really, really do hope that you will not end your career just yet!

Life Changing..

That's what I would say if you would to ask me to describe Hillsong Conference 06.Indeed, the past week in conference has changed my life.. and I'm pretty sure that this would apply to all of the delegates who were there as well.. I've received so much input till it's like overflowing man..

Man, conference just gets better and better each year..
I shall now attempt to give a very, very short summary of the entire week.. I did not get many pics though, because I was in the choir. We sat behind the stage, so we don't really get to see the real deal, haha.. so yea, most of my pics are taken from behind the stage.

This year's opening was more focussed on a video presentation which was excellently done. First, there were clips of different people from different walks of life and parts of Australia singing "How Great Is Our God" by Chris Tomlin. Then the following scenes were filmed in other parts of the world (not exactly sure where they are) with crazy drum beats and rapping at the end. The two main singers were Martin Smith from Delirious? and our very own Darlene. Darlene's clip was beautiful as it was filmed somewhere high up with the opera house and the harbour bridge in the background.

The sessions from morning till afternoon were amazing, though I fell asleep for a tiny bit for some of them.. haha.. Night rallies were indescribable.. Amazing praise and worship (from Delirious?, Cindy Cruise Ratcliff, Israel Houghton and New Breed, and the Hillsong team) crazy preaching from the world's best (just to name a few of them; Jentezen Franklin, Bill Hybels, Reinhart Bonke, etc.) and a huge amount of decisions were made to follow Christ.

This is the huge LCD screen which we(choir) do not get to see at all during services.. I think it has like over 1500 LCD's in it.. not sure what the exact number is, don't know much about LCD screens, and I think Pastor Brian mentioned that it was 1500 LCDs.. hmm.. don't know.. They even showed the two last goals of the Italy vs Germany match on these screens while we were rehersing. Pity we were in rehersals and I didnt get to see it.. oh well, I have better things to do, haha.. Yup, we were at rehersals that early in the morning!

Okay, now moving on to the closing/worship and praise party on Friday night. Like Ashley said, it was the bestest party ever! There was a super good dance presentation with pyros (pics are below).There was also a video clip of the clips from the oldest Hillsong conference to the latest one. It was funny seeing our pastors and leaders when they were young, with their 80's hairstyles and clothes.. but really inspiring to see the journey of this conference..

We sang the medley of the top ten songs which came from Hillsong, which was so so good.. The team sang all the old songs (my Redeemer lives, Everyday, Eagle's wings, Lord I give you my heart, Shout to the Lord.. etc) with of course Shout of the Lord being the number one. Those songs brought back fond memories!

At the end, everyone went crazy with the fast praise songs. The team on stage were going crazy and I think Marty broke a string on his guitar or maybe the guitar itself and he just threw it into the crowd which went crazy over it. Raymond Badham and Jad Gillies took over the choir conductor and started conducting funny moves to the choir, the other drummers running all over the stage with those percussion thingys (it goes konk konk, dont know wut its called) I can't put into words to describe the atmosphere.. it was just filled with great celebration and joy!

They pulled up Brian Houston, Phil Dooley, Joel Abell, Paul De Jong, and Matthew Barnett up to the stage at the end to sing "Take it All" which was hilarious. Everyone was so high after the party.. we blasted out praise music in my car and my whole car was bouncing because they were all trying to jump in my car.. haha

Phew, this is a long post.. congrats if you've read everything till here! Now the real holidays begin for me! I still need to catch up with my sleep.. so I better go now..it's getting late, and I'm writing this entry half asleep.. goodnight peeps!! zzZZzz

Conference!

Hillsong Conference is here~!!!! No hols for me yet.. The past few days have been really busy as well.. well yea, like I said.. I sleep less now, and am more busy compared to the exams period.. And the whole of next week will be crazy as well with conference! Waking up at 5.30 am, coming back at 11 pm for the 5 days.. hoho, bring it on!

Conference this year is extraordinary because it's our 20th anniversary celebration! not that all the others are not special, but this is extra special yea?

If you are around Sydney this week (3rd-7th July), do come over to the Acer Arena at Olympic park! People travel from all over the world just to get to this conference, I'm sure it'll be nothing for us to get there if it's just around the corner hey? And this is seriously gonna be a life changing and impacting event! It seriously is, but it's indescribable.. you gotta experience it yourself to know it.. haha..

Did I tell you that I'm excited? Yea.. I'm very excited.. Will be singing in the choir for Israel Houghton, New Breed, and Delirious! Will try and get pics of the nights and put em up after.. now I need to get all the rest I need to give my best throughout this week..

oh yea, I pull back my words about Argentina and Brazil.. haha..But Argentina really is strong , too bad I guess.. and France, ooo.. they're on fire! Now I'll change my "finals guess" to Germany vs France!

That's the one sound you'll hear a LOT if you sit in an exam hall with me.. and no, I'm not crying..

Am sick right now.. felt it coming last night as I studied for today's paper.. well, thankfully it's just a running nose and sore throat combo.. but still, it sucks.. it looks like it snowed in my rubbish bin..

I wanted someone to cook me a nice bowl of hot chicken soup this afternoon.. emo..

The paper today was quite bad for me man.. The marks were spread out so so thinly.. I think the maximum marks for a question was 4 marks outta a 100, and the majority of the questions were like a mark each. Even questions that require you to write five lines, points.. e.g.
Name the 5 reasons to premedicate an animal before anaesthesia.. 1 friggin mark.. grr..
Hopefully, I will manage to accumulate my 1 mark questions from every single corner of that paper and actually get a credit for this.. oh well..

It's a sad day for the australians today.. I'm sure most of you would have already known about the controversial penalty given to the italians at the very last minute.. But still, they have really done well to come this far. At least australians will appreciate the sport now more as well, instead of the crappy AFL. Well, to me it's obvious who's playing in the finals now.. Brazil and Argentina! Don't agree? well, state your opinion, and we'll see who wins.. :)
But, anything can happen in WC.. especially with the penalty win over the aussies.. right?

Yea, thursday's the last paper.. Radiology.. I do hope that this final paper won't be as subjective as the previous quizzes we had.. Can't wait till it's over..

Yup yup.. in the midst of exams now..

Had the first today, and it was slightly bad.. Hopefully the examiners like the way I phrase my answers.. Yup yup.. got four more to go => wednesday, friday, tuesday, and thursday.. So do pray for me yea?

Yup yup, attended the wedding of Gerald & Lina last saturday. It was the very first wedding I've attended that I really know both the bridegroom and the bride really well. So yea, it was exciting.. I've known the both of them before they even got together.. Yup yup, I've been in Sydney for a long time, and lots can happen within 4 years..

Will post pics up when K-Lo the photographer sends some over, faster yea brother Lo.. It was like a Hillsong campus wedding, as the weight of the planning and volunteer work was handled by close church friends.. I was in charge of multimedia stuff, which was pretty light, which is good, cos I needed to study..

Lazy to tell how it all went.. but yup yup, it was a great day indeed.. It was an event where you wanna go "awwww.. how sweet" ? I think so.. yup yup.. Felt all soft inside, haha..
I guess the most popular phrase of that day was "When's your turn?" or maybe it was "Congrats"..

Had a college dinner with Cardinal Pell as well on thursday.. I didn't know cardinals are such big shots till Father told me.. They elect the Pope and are just a rank below him in the catholic hierarchy.. cool eh? yup yup.. yea, good on you if you knew this before me.. ignorance is bliss.. hoho.. it was also a great night, and I got to know Nancy the cook better.. yup yup.. hopefully she cooks me something nice one day..

Indeed He is.. if you have been reading other blogs of peeps in Sydney, you'll know it's been raining like crazy the past few days. And the forecast for the rest of the week is rain, rain and more rain..
Wanted to post this entry yesterday night, but was too tired to do so already.. so yea..
Yesterday, as I walked to my faculty for a quiz which I was having in the morning,I was praying so that I'll do well for the quiz, and also for the rain to stop as well. Reason being that we normally run "The Spot", a lunch time hang out area/event with cheap/free food, barbeques, drinks, and friends. "We" as in Hillsong Campus, a christian club based on campus which I am part of.

Yea, so it was all dark and gloomy when I walked in the lecture theatre for the quiz. And it looked like it was so gonna rain the whole day like the previous day. But immediately after the quiz, the skies actually cleared! (yea I know I wasn't the only one praying) hoho, God answered my prayers for my quiz as well! haha, was really quite happy after. The sun actually came out for the whole duration of The Spot, and it started to rain again after we were done.. How crazy is that? And this happened last week as well (or a few weeks ago? cant remember)
Then , as I was walking home after uni, I saw this massive, long rainbow. I haven't seen such a huge one before.The ones I saw before were like a quarter the length of this one. Nice isn't it? The photo I took does no justice to the actual sight of it. Do note that I did not take an entire shot of the rainbow. I was so reminded of how great my God is when I saw this. The rainbow/Rainbows was popped in the sky by God as a sign of the perjanjian that he made with every living creature and us humans that He will never ever send a flood like how He did during Noah's time to destroy the earth again. Nice hey?

Another blessing came by surprise today as well! I was suppose to bunk in a living room in a 3 bedroom house next semester at Camden(somewhere far away, where the uni's farm campus is) with Yangz, Tania, and Wenqi. The whole house costs 200 aussie a week for rent which is quite cheap. But suddenly today the lady in charge called and told us that she manage to get a 4 bedroom house instead which is much,much closer to the uni than the previous one with the same rent! woo hoo.. so happy man!!
man, the Dude upstairs really takes good care of me.. I'm sure He does to for you peeps as well!

Of dogs and cars..

Meet Cookies, Darrel's dog.. Cookies was found wandering along the streets amongst the feet of pedestrians by Darrel, so he decided to take him to a vet to see if he belongs to anyone or to see if he fits any lost pup descriptions. After a week, it seems that nobody made any reports or such, and Cookies was up for adoption. The vet first offered Cookies up for adoption to Darrel , and yea, Darrel adopted him. I took this pic when I was babysitting him when Darrel had to go for a prac class.. I think his name is perfect don't you think so? Everytime I look at him, I crave for Connoisseur's cookies and cream ice cream.. Well Darrel takes him to class every single day because leaving Cookies in his room would not be a good idea cause he lives in a Uni residential unit (where pets are not allowed).. everybody loves him in class, easy to see huh? and Darrel has become popular amongst the girls now, lol.. good tactics! haha, but Darrel is attached anyway, so there're no hidden intentions .. maybe I could borrow Cookies sometime.. well I only managed to get smiles from old ladies as I was taking him back to my place the other time.. which is umm.. haha, wrong target.. grrr

Slow mo

That's my internet connection about 10 minutes ago.. Been going on for about 3 days.. Imagine a 64kbps connection being shared out by 8-10 people.. that's what happens when we meet the download limit. Doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's very frustrating.. Imagine waiting 5 to 10 minutes for your inbox to appear.. then 5 minutes again to read a mail..

Well, X3 just came out today.. but I want cheap tickets and not to cramp and line up real bad to watch it, haha.. so have to patient for a little bit ..Anyway.. these shows are on my must watch movie list

Anyway, this is what I had for lunch today :
syokness..Let me be your guide.. Firstly, everything was homemade! The bowl of noodles is just some chinese instant noodles.. the gyoza's on the right have to give credit to my mum (Wenqi) cos she made them. The chilli on top is a mixture of vinegar, and some black bean chilli thingy. They were perfect for the gyozas.. mmm..

and then.. jeng jeng jeng..My dessert!! This is black glutinous rice porridge or pulut hitam in malay or bee ko moey in hokkien. kesyokkan menggunung..super happy when I eat it.. haha.. and hey, I cooked it myself! Very proud of myself indeed.. Pandan leaves are expensive here.. they're not growing everywhere like how they are back in Malaysia..

things in uni are slowing down a little bit.. and I'm slacking more, which is a no no..Exams are a month away, and I really have so much to read and catch up.. oh well.. how do I be more me in a blog? hmm.. time will tell..

really tired at the moment.. this is a wrap up of my day : Uni -> Graduation -> Uni -> Graduation -> Set-up for Powerhouse -> Powerhouse -> now back home..
Lots of my friends had their graduation within this past few weeks, attended Priscilla's and K-Lo's today. Well for Kevin's I pretty much just dropped by for 10 minutes after class and took a photo on the empty lawns with him(cos I was very late).

These babies just arrived a few days ago.. they weigh a massive 20 kgs! I hope they'll really give me a smooth ride.. :D They're tokicos. No money for Teins , or bilsteins, or konis..

Had a surgery class about gastrotomy (which means incising into the stomach) yesterday. It was pretty exciting cos I found out that the dog that I was doing gastrotomy on ate like massive amounts of rubbery stuff.. It might be a whole thong (slippers in ozzie slang), or a mat or something. Crazy dog..It's whole stomach was just filled with the rubbery stuff. Maybe thats why it died/was euthanased.. we don't practice surgery on live dogs if you don't know... Even our lecturer was surprised at the amount of stuff the dog ate.. She even took photos to use them in future lecture slides..Everyone was crowding around our table to watch the show.. felt bangga as I pulled out the stuff while everyone else was admiring.. haha

Oh,that's one of the reasons we do a gastrotomy anyway ; to remove foreign objects like squash balls, corks, and other stuff some dogs decide to eat.. it was pretty gross if you're unfamiliar with such stuff, but just thought I wanna share it with you guys, ;) And oh, the stomach contents stinks like vomit cos what you vomit = stomach contents, makes sense yea? haha.. there you go!
It was our last surgery prac class today, so a friend of mine went around taking photos of us. Will post it up if he sends it to me..

Just got the rest of season 1 of prison break (episode 14 onwards) from Tika (thanks!!).. hoho, can't wait to watch the whole thing!! Need to finish essay first.. Prison break is super chee kek.. it's a must see!

A lil disappointed..

Hey folks, just went to see the car which I won on ebay a week ago.. haha, I know I know, ebay is not as safe as it should be.. but hear me out alright?
For those who don't know about the car I won on ebay, this is the story :
One day, I was on ebay searching for stuff for my car, which is a civic. While searching, this irresistable car deal popped out with like 5 minutes remaining on the bidding and it was just going for 8K aussie dollars. I was shocked and immediately called the seller. He told me everything was fine with it, so okay, I bidded, and I won it for 9.1k. haha.. It's a 2002 Civic Sedan by the way, and the market value for the car is around 15-16k. I thought I could buy it for 9.1k, and sell it off to make like 4-5k profit? haha, the businessman in me..

Yea, my friends were shocked when I told them about it.. they thought I was nuts..haha, but this is my justification : If the car is a genuine deal and is in good condition, I can make 4-5 k!! But if it's not, I have nothing to lose.. the worst I can get is a negative feedback from the guy himself. smart hey? But he did tell me everything was fine, so I had the right to not buy it in case he's hiding something..

Well, alas, the deal was too good to be true.. I went to have a look at the car today, seems that it had been through a LOT of accidents or a major accident alone. Took the car on a test drive, the first lap around the neighbourhood was fine.. Then I decided to go for another lap, on a faster speed.. Thank God I did.. I found out that gearbox is seriously a no no.. The guy said that he didn't know about it (or did he?) and apologised that he didn't tell me/advertised about it. He agreed to take 7k for the car though, and I told him I'll think about it over the night. But nah, I don't think I would want it now.. the car looked like it went through major plastic surgery with lil bits of dents here and there.. and I think it wouldn't be really worth it at all.. oh well.. there goes my dream of giving, zh'nging Belle (my car), and treating my friends to a huge feast with the money (and also keep somelah).. But hey, money ain't my master.. :) so it's all good.. Just minorly disappointed because I had really high hopes and nice dreams.. But hey,my God is BIG! and he's able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I ask or think!!
And I guess that the guy wouldn't really give me a negative feedback after all! Since it was his own fault of not putting in the right details.. :)

Well, thats that.. gonna go watch Eight Below in a while.. and looking forward to it as well..I love dogs! do you?

This is what I see everytime I get to my car park at my college.. These trees were green before (duh), but its really nice to notice the change the trees go through to get ready for winter. It's a really nice picture, and I nearly always admire it when I walk down to open the gate. So far the weather is pretty good.. not too hot, not too cold, just the way I like it..

Oh, australian mosquitoes are a bit dumb just to let you guys know. I was in my carpark for a little while one afternoon and I got bitten like crazy gila babi.. there were like hundreds of them flying around me! Mosquitoes are quite uncommon here in australia compared to malaysia, probably cos of the not so humid weather.. But my college's car park is like a breeding ground for them man.. Why? maybe it's the bushes around, but it's definitely the trailer which had pooled rain water (is that how you say it?hmm..) in it.There were like a million mozzie larvae wriggling around in the water before we emptied it.Yea, this is a pic of my feet which were filled with the "bite bumps". Maybe I shouldn't have been so engrossed in hiding the wiring for my car sound system at that time, but oh well.. but they just itch for a tiny while, so nothing to it after all.. Ohh yea.. why are the mozzies so dumb.. well, lets say if I were to sit down and whack any mozzies that come near me, I would get all of em.. yea, all of em.. they're like super duper slowlah, compared to their malaysian friends.. I like killing mozzies.. I always feel like I've accomplished a lot whenever I kill them.. ahaha, yea, I know I'm weird.. I once arranged all the mozzies I've killed in a row just to feel good last time.. and I actually did feel good.. haha! before you think I'm weird, try it okay?

Need to get to bed soon.. Uni next week is a crazy week with long hours.. 9am - 4pm from monday till thurs..Thank goodness I finish at 12 on Friday.. sigh.. Not like this is something new though.. probably cos I've had lots of half days for the past few weeks..
Hillsong church has bought a nice piece of land in the city!! Flippin amazing! For those who don't know, our current church in the city is bursting (7th service on a weekend starting soon), and we definitely need another venue so that we can grow more, and we've got one now !!Hopefully everything works out fine! I'm really really excited to see what the future holds for the city side of the church..hoho, God is good!

The origin of ah pin

Harlo harlo! I'm back for a tiny short while! In case you haven't noticed, I've changed my blog name to "The Adventures of ah pin". I can't think of any nice blog titles, cos my english is not that chim. Well, lazy to think of them anyway, so decided to stick to the simple and plain one..
Anyway, for those who don't know, ah pin is one of my nicknames that I had for a long ,long time. It all began when an old friend of mine, Lin Kooi decided to start calling me ah pin for no reason in primary school.. The only reason I can think of is that vin rhymes with pin. So, there you go.. ah pin..Can't remember exactly when though, probably standard 3 or 4? So there you go, the origin of ah pin!

Why I decided to use ah pin instead of the many other nicknames? I guess its the penang hokkien kia in me.. cos its penang-ish yea?

Haven't been studying the past week at all.. which is no good! Ok, gonna start now! Have to postpone my project, which I don't want to.. haiyaaa.. yea, will mess with the blog later as well.

Been contemplating to start a blog or not for a little while.. and decided, oh well.. may as well.. Wanna share what's going on around me in Sydney. But do prepare yourself for very low activity yea? Just briefly done the template and title and stuff.. so you gotta bear with it for a while till I find time to play around.

Am having my week-long mid sem break now at the moment.. It's more like a study break with quizzes the week after. And not just easy quizzes, the scope of study is freaking huge. But on a brighter note, hopefully the topics they examine us now won't be examined again at the end of the semester.. yea, hopefully..
Anyway, besides studying, I have a project that I wanna complete as well this hols.. will blog about it later!
And oh, Hillsong campus is having a combined uni retreat this wednesday to Kurrajong (somewhere near the blue mountains) which I think is going to be super! Pity not many of our team are going (this includes the part-timers) cos it won't be as fun as it could be..oh well, it's all good anyway!

Oklah.. gotta go clean my room which is in a huge mess.. time to belah!
